Welcome! Join us on our adventures as we travel through time every friday morning with the imaginative young artists of Denise Gusinde’s first grade class! This semester we will visit the past, present and future to uncover new and exciting information about history, culture and the wonderful world of art-making!
Hi! My name is Merry Wilson, I am an Art Education student at Colorado State University with a 3-D concentration. I grew up loving the art making process, through any medium I could get my hands on. In high school, I discovered a love for stone sculpture and working three dimensionally. Through Colorado State University I have taken studio art courses in Photography, Painting, Drawing, Figure Drawing, Sculpture, Metal Smithing and Jewelry, and Pottery. In my free time, I love spending time with my family and being outdoors. I am so excited to work with the students in Denise’s 1st grade class at the lab school this semester!
Hi! My name is Stephanie Flynn! I am also an Art Education student at Colorado State University, and I hold a second major in Mathematics. My concentration is in drawing, but I love to dabble in pottery and installation artwork, too. Ever since I have been able to hold a pencil in my hand, I have loved the process of making artwork, and this love has slowly evolved over time to encompass a diverse range of mediums. As a result, a lot of my work tends to focus on multimedia exploration within large spaces. I just adore filling rooms with giant creations, and I often incorporate my interest in mathematics into my work. At Colorado State University, I have taken numerous studio classes focusing in Drawing, Figure Drawing, Painting, Pottery, Photography, Sculpture, and Design. I am also working towards adding a math endorsement to my education license, and I have taken extensive courses in mathematics including Calculus I, II, and III, Linear Algebra, Geometry, Statistics, and Abstract Algebra. In my free time, I love to spend time with friends and family, and I also volunteer part time for the Student Organization for the Visual Arts (SOVA) where I work with peers to come up with new ideas and events that will help to educate the community about art and its importance to society. Like Merry, I am very excited to be working in Denise’s first grade class at the lab school this semester, and I hope to learn as much from the students as they will learn from me!
Ciao! My name is Madeline Zeikus and I am currently in the process of receiving my Bachelors Degree in Art Education at Colorado State University. I have taken a variety of studio courses while at CSU, including Sculpture, Pottery, Painting, Figure drawing and Photography. My life’s passion is working with children and the arts! In my free time I work as a sunday school teacher, a young children’s hip-hop dance class instructor, and as a volunteer in the Lincoln Junior High Art classroom. I recently studied Art History abroad in Italy which furthered my passion for the Arts and all they have to offer; past, present and future! Children are the future and I am so excited to be working with Denise’s first grade class this semester as we “time travel” throughout time and space to learn about art! There is no boundary to our imagination, so as Buzz Lightyear would say, “To infinity and BEYOND!”
